How to prevent the fuse will damaged on a campsite?
A lot of campers take several devices with them from home to use on a campsite. Unfortunately it may regularly occur that the fuse will break-down, because your devices are using too  much power. How do you prevent this?
Camping current
3, 4, 6 of 10 ampere on a campsite? What does it mean?
If you arrive on a campsite, first inform how much ampere you can use. If you have 4 ampere on a campsite you have to make the following calculation: 4 (ampere) x 230 volt = 920 Watt This means that you can only use devices till a maximum of 920 watt. Usually you have powered on the refrigerator and at night you will switch on the lights and television. You are then already using about 205 watt. Furthermore most campers have their boiler powered on the whole day. You are the using about 505 watt!. This will leave 415 watt for your electric devices.

You want to make coffee with a coffee machine of 700 watt. This cannot be done if your refrigerator, TV, lights and boiler are powered on. If you switch off the boiler you will have 715 watt at your disposal and allows you to make coffee. At 4 ampere you can only take devices up to 700 watt with you. Fortunately there is the Watt controller.

If you have 6 ampere at a campsite it means you can use electric devices up to a total maximum of 1380 watt. We already made a calculation that a refrigerator, TV, lights and a boiler consume a total  of 505 watt. This means there will be 875 watt left for your electric devices. Power off your boiler and you will have a total of 1175 watt at your disposal. So you can take devices up to 1175 watt with you.

You want to make coffee with a coffee machine of 700 watt. That’s no problem. But if you want to use a coffee machine (with pads) of 1450 watt, the fuse probably will blow. The device is in the beginning 1450 watt, afterwards the power will be less. If the refrigerator is powered on at the same time the coffee machine is powered on the fuse will blow. (If you nevertheless succeed, you had some luck!).

Fortunately there is the Watt controller
4 or 6 ampere on a campsite and be able to use electric devices up to 2000 watt: This can now be done with the Watt controller. You arrive on a campsite where there is only 4 or 6 ampere. Luckily you bought a Watt controller, because you want to use your coffee machine with pads. This coffee machine is 1450 watt. If you have only 4 or 6 ampere at the campsite you cannot use this machine as explained above. But with the Watt controller you can!! First switch your boiler off. Next put the plug of the Watt controller in a socket in your caravan. Then switch the Watt controller on position 4 or 6 (this must be the number of ampere that is available) and the Watt controller will take care of that. Now you can make coffee after all.

You can also take your frying pan with you from e.g. 1500 watt; also this can be used with the Watt controller at 4 or 6 ampere. Also a baking oven of 1380 watt can be used with the Watt controller: so you can bake some fresh bread in the morning or make a delightful oven meal for diner.

If you are on a campsite with 6 ampere and the Watt controller is switched at position 4, the boiler can remain powered on even if you are making coffee.

If you have 10 ampere you can use 2300 watt. We already made a calculation that a refrigerator, TV, lights and a boiler consume a total of 505 watt. This means there will be 1795 watt left for your electric devices. However at night you have regularly powered on a heater: this uses about 1000 watt. So you have 795 watt available. Switch of your boiler and you again have 300 watt more available (1095 watt). But if you are using a Watt controller at position 6, you don’t have to switch off your boiler and still can connect for example a oven of 1380 watt. What a comfort!!

Another example:

If you have 3 ampere you can use 690 watt. If you switch on the refrigerator and at night the lights you will use 165 watt.. This means there will be 525 watt left for your electric devices. With the Watt controller you can still use a water boiler up to 2000 watt or a hair dryer of 2000 watt (see explanation Watt controller).
